I'm Ryan, a self-taught developer based in Colorado. When I'm not building backend systems and web applications, you'll find me fly fishing in Colorado's headwater streams—which is where the name for this business came from. I started Headwater Development to build the kind of custom tools that actually solve problems, not just look good in a portfolio.
I started building web applications because I saw a gap between what businesses actually needed and what most developers were offering. Too many companies were getting template websites when they needed custom solutions. Too many were being quoted $50k for tools that should cost a fraction of that. I taught myself to code and started focusing on the kind of work that actually moves the needle: backend systems, integrations, calculators, and tools that solve real business problems.
